Hi all,

My PC keeps shutting down around 5-10 minutes after start up. It has a could whine usually which I fix by running a benchmark (don't know why the high load fixes it). I have no thermal problems but I still have no idea why it keeps shutting down.

System:
FX-8320 8 core 3.5ghz
Hyper evo 212 cooler
Gigabyte 970a-ds3p mobo
GTX 1050Ti 4gb
8gb hyperX 1833 ddr3 ram
2×1tb Seagate hardrive
Corsair CX750 (bought about 4 years ago)
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

With sudden shutdowns, the first places to look are temperatures and power supply. Are you checking your temperatures? If those are fine, next thing to check is the power supply; the old CX line was quite mediocre and at four years, is in its twilight years.

Unsure of how to reply properly on mobile. However I monitor my temperature with OCCT CPU gets to max of 60c graphics card gets to around 65c and the TM pins go to about 50c. The whine only started occuring after I changed case a few weeks ago, could this effect it? Thanks.

It is quite likely that the problem originates from the PSU - the CX750 from 4 years ago is not a very good unit, and 4 years is a long time for a bad unit like that to work without issue...

PS: Could also be a RAM issue, run memtest86 to eliminate RAM errors.
