My motherboard is about nine years old and the peripherals are getting up there too. Lately, I've found that it takes a while before the motherboard will post. When it was new, it would post so fast, I couldn't even read it. Now, it takes about three seconds before the screen even shows up. I've had many BSODs because of old drivers(already have the latest available :-()
There have been times when it threatens to hang while posting. At this point, I'm really wondering if its the power supply. I bought a new one some time ago in anticipation of an upgrade.

Is it possible or is it just the results of ancient hardware? Thanks!

Test your ram with memtest86.
It does not use windows. See how long it takes to get going.

Over time, it is easy to get infected with windows malware and monitoring apps.
Run malwarebytes free edition to check and disable malware.
Use msconfig and turn off as many startup options as you can.

I checked the memory, no problems. I ran malwarebytes, no problems. I then reseated the memory and the video card, rolled back to an earlier time, so far, so good!
