PC slowing down and Disk at 100

I'm just gonna be brief with my pc specs:
I have a NVIDIA Gtx 950
16gb of ram
Intel core i5 6600k
Not sure about the rest...

So basically, after a year of using this pc, my boot time is slowing down and my disk is at 100% right when I boot up. While it's at 100%, my pc is really slow... But after a minute or 2, it speeds up to its original speed and the disk usage goes back down to 2-17%
What's going on? Thank you for helping!

Every HDD can develop bad sectors which is permanent damage inside the HDD. That's why each HDD also has a spare area for that purpose. Everytime a bad sector gets detected, it can be marked and get replaced by another one on the spare area. They don't really get fixed by software, it just tries to marks them and then transfer all the data from the bad sectors to the reserved sectors. Sometimes that process isn't successful because the damage is too severe and the bad sector can't be read or...

If a system has its OS installed on a hard drive, as it gets older and more programs are getting installed then:

1)The hard drive's free space is decreasing (slowing it down).
2)The number of programs/services that load during the windows start-up phase increases.

So as you can see windows needs more time in order to start. If you want to avoid that you need an SSD. That said you may need to check your hard drive for errors and make sure that no warnings appear in the hard drive's smart status just to be safe.

I mean, i check resource monitor and in the beginning of startup, there is like a thousand programs running under disk and then it slowly depletes. Like right now I have 5 items listed under disk in my resource monitor

As I said before, if you have a hard disk drive, that behaviour is normal. However you have to test your drive in order to rule out the possibility that it may be failing.

My friend, we already asked you something and you didn't answer. Do you have an SSD or a HDD (Hard Disk Drive)? From what I can tell, you seem to have the latter. The Crystal Disk info simply tells that your HDD (if that is what you got), has developed some bad sectors. This is a serious issue and your drive may die soon. Try to back-up all your important files. Also please tell us:

1)The model and age of your HDD.
2)The Raw Values that C5 and 05 give you, but before you do that you have to convert those values decimal numbers. Go to Function => Advanced Feature =>Raw Values and select 10 [DEC].
3)Try to repair your HDD with the windows drive error-checking tool. Just make sure that you click the 2 options that it gives you (automatically fix file system errors and scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors).

As an additional option you can download hard disk sentinel. It will give you an exact number about your HDD's health status.

OK your HDD has 16 bad sectors and has reallocated 2 of them. You need to back up all your important files immediately. At the current moment your HDD's reliability is questionable and may keep developing more bad sectors, corrupting more of your files and it may even fail completely in the end. Once you've done that you can try to repair some of those errors with the method I wrote above but keep in mind that in the end you may need a new HDD. Your current HDD is damaged and the situation could certainly get worse.

Also download hard disk sentinel and check what number it gives you about your drive's health status. If you get a number below 50-60%, stop using your PC immediately and don't power it down until you manage to back-up all your important files.

Eventually you may need to replace that HDD. I don't know if it's still under warranty. Contact the support of the place you bought your system and tell them that your HDD has 16 bad sectors and ask them whether they can replace it. Good luck.

The health is 88% and the performance is 100%
And there were no errors found when I did the error checking for my disk

When you checked the HDD for errors, did you select the 2 options that gave you (automatically fix file system errors and scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors)? If you did, did it managed to recover any bad sectors? Did the C5 and 5 Raw Values change?

From what I can tell your HDD isn't in horrible shape and it seems usable, although you should still continue monitoring its health status. If it decreases, it means that the HDD is dying and you need a new one. However you still need to back up all your important files. You should also contact your system's seller and ask them whether they can replace the HDD. If it still is under warranty you should return it since it is defective. Good luck.

I'd just

1. Buy and install another 1TB HDD. They don't cost much. Put your documents on that
2. Buy an entry level SSD like a Samsung 250GB. Put install Windows and your programs on that

No more performance or reliability issues and the PC would boot and load programs far faster.

If you see bad sectors they can start popping up quicky. Any data that gets written to bad sectors is corrupted. Replace disk ASAP.

Window's error checking only gave me one option "scan for errors" and when I finish scanning... It just says view details and "There were no errors found".... Now I'm using easeus to check partitions and let me see if that fixes the errors.

No program fixes bad sectors, by the way. What it does is essentially put traffic cones around the bad sectors so the OS doesn't write to them. That doesn't stop more from appearing later. If more do appear again, replace the HDD.

Sometimes that process isn't successful because the damage is too severe and the bad sector can't be read or written, thus losing all the data stored in those sectors. It can even get worse when a Hard Drive keeps developing bad sectors until it fails and then unfortunately you lose all your data.

Back up you important data, try to replace the HDD, if it's still under warranty or get a new one or even better get an SSD. Your HDD may continue working but its reliability remains questionable. It could die without further notice. You can still keep using it though but only as a secondary drive and not for important data. Good luck.
