Question PC smells like burning

Hi, I found An old RAM (1GB) and I tried to upgrade my mum's PC having 2GB... The PC started smelling like burning without showing anything. After removing the RAM the PC started working properly. Is that good?

Do you know what type of memory the system has and what you tried to use? Look for a sticker on the modules installed already and the module you tried to use and post what the stickers say.

smelling like burning is bad thing, You didn't try to do it while it was on did you? The ram you found may have been discarded because it was shorted.

I don't know why but the screen is showing flickering green pixels... Still able to use the 2PCs

You might try reseating your video card and memory, when is the last time the dust was blown out? Dust can be conductive if it gets bad enough.
