PC speakers don't play sound immediately...

I have Creative GIgaworks T40 speakers and whatever I try to play through them they don't do anything for the first 4 seconds if I haven't used them in a while.
The problem is the same on my PC and my laptop which makes me think it is the speakers...

Does the power light on the speaker go off when the speaker has been sitting unused for a long time? Its going into a power saving mode. I saw this post on another forum :
