Hi, I have a tower working perfectly, when suddenly it shuts down, and the hard drive started making a strange noise for about 10 second. PC won't boot anymore. So I decided to disconnect the hard drive and the PC won't boot anyway.
In the tower I got a generic motherboard from a pre-build Asus PC, core i5 3330, GeForce 620(Just for the video output) 🙁 , hyper 212 Evo air-cooler , and a generic power supply 350w.
I thought that the power supply was dead but I tried with a jumper and it still work.
There's a green led on the motherboard that turn on.
I don't know what to do.
PLEASE HELP

Solution

You don't need a 700watt psu, just get a good quality one.Something of 400watt would already be more than enough for what you have and even 300watt would do,but if you maybe wanted to upgrade with a suitable gpu would a nice 450watt mostly be fine if not going very high end with that gpu.
You may have had a capacitor or something else pop/short on your mobo. What I'd recommend at this point would be to remove it from your case and carefully inspect it to see if any such damage is apparent. If you're not comfortable removing it entirely, remove as much as you can to make the board visible for inspection.

Pretty sure the 700w PSU mentioned was just for testing purposes.
