Hi, I ran into an issue with my PC recently and I don't know why, I'll post my specs before further explanation in case that might help:

Motherboard: Asus prime z390a
CPU: i5 9600K
GPU: RTX 4070
PSU: Corsair TX650M
RAM: G.Skill FlareX DDR4 2400 PC4-19200 16GB 2x8GB CL15

I built myself this PC around three years ago (the GPU is the only change, 6 months ago), never had a problem until now.

One morning, after normal behaviour the night before, I try to boot up the PC, lights in case go on, everything seems fine but the VGA white LED light in the motherboard doesn't turn on, it stops after the RAM orange light turns off. As non of those check lights stays on, I couldn't troubleshoot if it was hardware related error, so anyway, I try to boot the PC without the graphics card as it didnt go through the white LED before, and same thing happened. Tried with one stick of RAM only and no boot aswell, just stuck.

I tried then jumping the CMOS to reset the BIOS and only then, the PC made it to windows. The only setting that I changed in BIOS was to OC the CPU a bit, but that was when I built the PC and never ran into problems before.

I haven't had any issues since then, this was two weeks ago.

I want to make it clear that I don't have the problem anymore, I am asking in case anyone knows what might have happened, and if I should be concerned about happening again in the future.

Thanks in advance.

It could be that your BIOS might be pending an update. What version are you on? It's possible that the battery would need a replacement. A fresh cell doesn't cost much. As for you clearing of the CMOS, it's possible that the VRM on your motherboard is degrading, or your PSU is unable to deliver power for the overclock or your processor is giving out on said overclock.

Thanks for the quick reply,

never updated the BIOS, the version is 1302, should I update it?. I've always been a bit reluctant to do so in case I mess up, I'm not an expert.

I'll change the battery if it happens again.

In regard of the OC, before it was running at 1.35 V, since I cleared the CMOS I Iowered it to 1.3 V and is running fine. That's not heavy right?
