[SOLVED] PC Stuttering, Freezing, Shuts Down.

My PC all of a sudden when I booted it up today, after I boot up a game and play for about 5-10 minutes. It starts to stutter every 30-60 seconds or so, and after a few stutters it freezes, the audio as well freezes.

Then about instantly after it 'shuts down' although I can see and hear my pc still running but my display turns off.

This happened really suddenly and I've had no issues prior. It's kinda worrying, I hope none of my hardware is broken, I opened up the pc just to have a look around everything is plugged in nicely, and all set.

I installed latest Windows 10 Updates, I even ran a Windows Memory Diagnostic. Restarted it plenty of times. I'm not too sure what to do from here. Would appreciate some help thanks.

Update the BIOS before you do anything else. If you do not currently have BIOS version 3103 running then it should be a priority to upgrade to that version.

First however, I would make CERTAIN that you have THIS chipset driver version installed.

THEN, and only then, update the BIOS to the latest version, version 3103.

I can't stress how important it is to be on the latest BIOS version on most motherboards from the last three Ryzen generations, when it comes to all kinds of compatibility issues. Memory, CPU and graphics cards are all affected by BIOS version releases even when they are not specifically listed in the BIOS version update notes. Probably fully 25% of...
I bought my pc second hand, then upgraded its CPU/MOBO/RAM about a month ago. Haven't had any problems until now. Not sure how long some things have been in service besides my new parts.

UPDATE: It stopped doing it for the rest of the day, and then today I was just listening to music and the mouse and audio stuttered, and then my display shut down again and went black with the computer still running.

Here are my specs:

I am planning to upgrade my PSU/GPU asap, especially my Power Supply.

I've checked my temps with HWMonitor, with idle and running games. My CPU never goes above 60C, and my GPU never goes above 70C on max load.

It's really frustrating because it's inconsistent. It randomly happens at odd times and like last night, it didn't happen for like 4-5 hours straight.

When you installed your new hardware, did you do a CLEAN install of Windows? Not an upgrade, not a factory reset, not a refresh. A CLEAN install?

What Windows version are you running? 7, 8.1, 10? If 10, what build version?

What motherboard BIOS version are you currently running?

Have you installed the MOST recent AMD B450 chipset drivers from the AMD website?

There are other driver questions to ask, but they will be dependent on which version of Windows and which build of Windows if running 10, that you are running.

Yes, replace that PSU. It's not great, and it's probably a very good idea to replace it with something better, but that might be a little more difficult than you'd normally think right now because power supplies and motherboards are in short supply, and the prices of them are much higher than normal, due to China's manufacturing shut down for like three to four months. I guess they have the production lines back open now, but it's probably going to take a while for the supply chain to reestablish sufficient retailer supply for prices to normalize. If you buy one now, expect to pay 50-100% more than you would normally for any respectable, reliable, high quality unit.

Yes I did a clean install, and I also had to buy a new product key too.

I'm running Windows 10 Home, 64 Bit, Version: 2004, OS Build: 19041.388

I haven't done any Motherboard BIOS updates since I upgraded to the B450-F, so I believe it's the BIOS that comes right out of the box.

I did install the chipset drivers yes.

Yeah I do know about the difficulties with power supplies at the moment, especially with price and availability. And currently I don't have the money to upgrade right this moment, but working on it.

I would really like to pinpoint the reason this is happening, and the problem. Before I rush to buy a new power supply or new component. My knowledge is average at best when it comes to these things.

UPDATE: I ran a CCleaner to see if it would make any difference, unfortunately it didn't which is what I mostly expected. I'm very OCD like when it comes to what's on my computer, and it being clean and junk. So I can't see it being malware related or anything.

I also did a clean install of windows on the 10th of July this month, about a week ago.

Probably fully 25% of problem threads with Ryzen platforms that I've worked on have been solved by simply updating to the latest BIOS version for whatever board model was involved.

Might not fix the problem, but it is sure as hell where I'd start.

Alright, I'll make sure I get the chipset drivers you sent, and update to the latest BIOS.
I'll keep you updated, thanks for the amount of help so far!
