Question PC turned off and now won't turn back on - - - - faulty motherboard ?

Hello, a few days ago my pc randomly turned off while i was using it and then refused to turn back on. Initially i thought it was the PSU so i replaced it but still wouldn't turn on. The motherboard green light turned on so i took it to a local shop. He told me the motherboard is faulty, even though the light turned on, other parts of it was still faulty or something along those lines.

My cpu fan hasn't been working in quite some time either. I would always get the cpu fan error when i booted up and had to go into bios to set the monitor to ignore and then boot into windows. I will replace the fan but i need some guidance regarding my motherboard. Here are the relevant specs of my PC:

asus z87A motherboard
I5-4670k
1080 Ti
8gb RAM
cooler 212 fan
corsair carbide series 200r compact case

So asus stopped selling the z87a years ago and the only ones i can find are from china that take over a month to be delivered, z97a also nowhere to be found.
So my questions are:

(1) What motherboard do i buy that's compatible with my pc, keeping in mind i want things to be how they are and not really get something worse or way better as price is an issue.
(2) Will a new motherboard require me to install Windows again? I have w7 pro not activated that i have installed and none of my data is backed up. Not sure what to do here.
(3) What are the successors to z87 and z97 that are around 100 bucks and similar performance to my z87a?

Update your post to include the make, model, wattage, age of the PSU's. Original and replacement.

Can you be more specific regarding "even though the light turned on"? Which light?

Will the pc boot into Safe Mode?

Did anyone try clearing CMOS and replacing the CMOS battery?

This motherboard?

[Be sure to verify that I found the correct/applicable User Guide.]

Read through the User Guide and double check all components to ensure that they are supported. Check connections and configurations.

Pay attention to the fine print, warnings, etc.. Details matter.

Do as much as you can on your own then press the shop for more information about why the shop believes that the motherboard is faulty.

That may indeed be the case but try to find some way to be certain.

As for the data you may be able to recover data by temporally removing the pc's drive(s) and setting each one up as a secondary drive on another computer via an adapter or enclosure of some sort. Boot the host computer, connect the drive (you do not want that drive to boot the host) and then, hopefully, find your data folders and files.

Will defer to other posters regarding potential motherboard successors.

Hi, motherboard was faulty so i replaced it with z87-pro. I've put everything in but now I'm getting A2 error code on boot. I start it up, after 3 seconds it shuts off by itself and reboots and then i get the A2 error.
