PC turns off after 2 - 3 seconds

Asus M2N32 WS PRO
Athlon 64 X2
OCZ PSU

This system has been working for many years but recently refused to boot. The power comes on and fans turn for 2 seconds and then everything shuts down.

I have applied fresh CPU paste but no luck.

Removed everything from MB and problem persists.

I have noticed that when the ATX12V connectors are removed the power will stay on. I then tried with the graphics card in but no display. Interestingly the fan on the graphics card will turn only when the ATX12V is NOT connected.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Hi,

I would recommend trying another PSU if you have access to it. I have seen this problem before when a screw that holds the motherboard in place was actually shorting out the motherboard. When I changed the screw for a smaller one everything worked. I used an Asus motherboard.
