My pc contains..
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Graphics Card.
  • Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2400 CPU @ 3.10GHz
  • Realtek PCle FE Family Controller Ethernet Cord
And still it has a performance issue. I see the ethernet spiking and not sending and receiving the same number. When it sends, it receives the same, double, or almost triple the amount. I was wondering how do I fix that? I am trying to play pc games & PCVR but its super slow.

A 2nd generation CPU is badly matched with a 4060 graphics card.
You have a very unbalanced system.

While I agree with kanewolf almost 99.9%

I would also suggest to also try a a different RJ45 Ethernet cable and update all drivers from their official websites.

If needed remove the old drivers from Device Manager and reboot. Re-install the new ones you have downloaded.

Otherwise its time to upgrade...

Kind Regards

Thanks

I use to have a 650 graphics card and had the same problem but it was even worse. Thanks for the ethernet cord suggestion and stuff.

It really depends on the game on how much it send compared to how much it receives. In general network traffic is trivial compared to modern internet connections. They might use 1mbps up and 1mbps down at most. Many use far less. Remember they used to run world of warcraft on 64kbps dialup modems. It uses much more now days but I think it still uses under 500kbps.

Games are kinda the exception most other traffic has much more download to upload which is why you still see many internet plans be say 500mbps down and 25mbps up.

What numbers do you get on sites like speedtest. If you had some issue with your ethernet cable it should affect speedtest. You might see it stall for example or the rates to greatly fluctuate while the test is running. You can also try the simple run ping 8.8.8.8 -t
If you have ethernet cables issues you will see packet loss.

I don't think your problem is a actual network issue.

You can load a program called hwinfo64 and actually watch your GPU and CPU loads. I strongly suspect you will see the GPU load not anywhere near 100% and one of your cores at 100%. This though doesn't always mean a lot since games vary a lot in how they use your hardware. You could try resource manager to see the cpu utilization.

In general if you think a problem is a ethernet cable it is always nice to have a spare laying around. They are very cheap compared to anything else in your machine. You need nothing special CAT5E can do 1gbit and higher numbers will not run any faster or better. If you can get them cheaper that is fine. Key though is the cable must be pure copper with wire size 22-24 AWG. Look for that information. The main cables to avoid are those flat ones that have very thin wire.
