Hi, I am going to replace my 4790k with Ryzen 1700. I have to replace few components - Mobo, CPU, RAM (from ddr3 to ddr4) and cooler.
My want to leave my HDDs and SSD here and I will need to connect them to new mother board.
My question is - Is there any risk of losing data on drives if I will disconnect them from one mobo and connect on new (AM4 mobo) one? What's correct way of unplugging and plugging SATA devices?
Also I have Hyper 212 EVO cooler, what is the way to make it compatible with new AM4 socket if it is possible or do you recommend purchasing new cooler for Ryzen 1700.
Thanks

Data, probably not. OS, definitely. Anytime you change the motherboard you are looking at a new OS purchase these days. MS might be nice and allow you to transfer it, but most likely not. Shut down you computer normally then disconnect the drives. Complete your refurb, then connect again. Be aware that Ryzen still has issues with stability. Hopefully new drivers will be available by the time you fire it up. Here is the coolermaster AM4 compatibility list: http://www.eteknix.com/cooler-master-announces-amd-ryzen-am4-compatibility-list/
