[SOLVED] PC upgrade, trying to avoid bottleneck

Hey, after a few years away from gaming i decided to upgrade my pc to match todays requirements.
I usually play at 1080p but if possible i would like to future proof a bit and get parts that could run 4k and VR decently.
However even though back when i got this pc it was top of the line, now days it's pretty dated and i'm worried that just upgrading my gpu will result in bottleneck
So my current PC is :
Motherboard- Z97X-UD3H
CPU-i5 4670k (overclocked to 4/4.2)
GPU- gtx 780ti overclocked
RAM-8GB (i believe DDR3)

I was thinking about getting a gtx 2070 super as it's a pretty decent upgrade from the 780ti and not too expensive, but i cant tell if my cpu will bottleneck it, what do you guys think?
And if it does will changing my cpu require replacing my motherboard and ram as a result?

At 1080p you will have a more than slight CPU limitation, but still a massive improvement. I would also suggest upgrading to 16gb ram aswell.

Got it, and how will it preform in VR? bottleneck wise, Vive in particular.
Also is there any significant importance to DDR3 Vs DDR4 ram?

Ddr4 ram wont physically fit in your motherboard.
You need a matched ddr3 kit.

Motherboard only supports DDR3, best upgrade is getting a new motherboard and DDR4 ram.

Would DDR4 make a difference that justifies buying a new MOBO?

My bad, there's no point to upgrade the motherboard and DDR4 won't really make a difference.

I thought your motherboard have LGA 1151 socket, but it's LGA 1150.

I would recommend you to get a new 16 GB dual channel ram kit

Your CPU wouldn't work with a newer motherboard that supports ddr4. Your system will only ever work with ddr3 unless you swap cpu, motherboard, and ram of course.

If you want to get rid of the CPU limitation id look for a modern 6 core.
