I want to upgrade my pc and would like some economical suggestions. I am not a gamer. Please help.
MOBO: Asus P6T se X58
CPU: i7 950@3.07GHZ
RAM: Corsair DDR3 - 12GB
GPU: AMD Radeon HD6800 2GB
PSU: LSP 650 watts
BIOS: AMI 1408
Using an AOC 27" 4K Monitor so would like the benefit of 4k viewing if possible. Investing in a new pc is not an option.
Thanks for any assistance.

"Economical".....how many dollars can you spend; absolute maximum?

You are severely limited due to the age of the entire platform.

You might be able to upgrade the CPU to Core i7 980.

I'm not sure how much improvement you would see in reality, but the Passmark benchmark is 11% higher for the 980, as compared to the 950.

Thank you Sir
I would consider the best compatible replacement hardware. I was already considering the i7 980X as CPU replacement. Is there a site where I can go to see components my system can perform with?

A ssd upgrade will be magical if you are now using a hdd for your C drive.
I would like to edit my post to generate more responses on my pc upgrade. I am in my 70s therefore really use my pc for browsing the internet, streaming movies and some normal computer work. Purpose for my upgrade is to use a 4k monitor I purchased (AOC 27" lcd monitor).

MOBO: Asus P6T se X58
CPU: Intel i7 950@3.07GHZ - LGA1366 intel core extreme edition
RAM: Corsair DDR3 - 12GB (1333)
GPU: AMD Radeon HD6800 2GB
PSU: LSP 650 watts
BIOS: AMI 1408
As mentioned i want to watch 4k movies and perhaps get a better performance. therefore i need optional components that will allow this to happen. Not interested in gaming.

UHD (4k) video playback is not well supported by streaming platforms on the PC.

UHD Bluray is an option but the only CPU's I'm aware of that support the encryption technology for it are 7th to 10th gen Intel CPU's.

My two cents would be plug in a 4k Amazon Fire Stick into a spare HDMI port on your 4k monitor:

I believe Netflix, Amazon, Disney Plus, Paramount Plus and Google Play movies will play on 4k on the Fire Stick.
