I recently upgraded my cpu from a Ryzen 5 1500x to a Ryzen 7 2700 on my ASRock a320m. It didn’t boot or even show up on my monitor. So I did some research and decided to clear my CMOS. It didn't work so I put my old cpu in and now I just see a spinning circle when I try to boot.

The first question is before you installed the 2700 did you update your BIOS to the latest one or at least P4.50 which is the version stated by the ASRock website to support the 2700?

How can I upgrade(cause I didnt) when i can only boot to bios on the old processor? Im worried i screwed it all over now because I cleared cmos. Do i download it to a flash drive?

You can update the BIOS through the BIOS itself, thats my preferred method anyways.

Typicaqlly this requires you to download the BIOS and put it on a flash drive then, with the flash drive still in a USB port, loading the BIOS and using the built in flashing utility. ASRock states its called "Instant Flash".

Thank you, I will try when I get home.

I got the new processor to boot past bios but I am still seeing a loading screen. Will it take time to boot after and update because I don’t remember this happening last time I upgraded my cpu. Or will I have to find some off the wall fix?

As long as you have the latest BIOS Windows should boot pretty normal. I have never seen one that doesn't.

What happens if you put the old CPU back in?
The same thing happens with the old cpu. Its definetly a windows issue but I'm really looking for a way around a fresh install cause Escape from Tarkov is a bitch to reinstall.

I'm just gonna reinstall Windows, suck it up and search the files on the Windows.old file for stuff like Tarkov, Oculus software and its games. Thanks for the help.

What seemed to have happened was when you cleared CMOS you changed the boot order back to optimized MB defaults. if you havent reinstalled windows already you may be able to get into the boot menu and set your boot drive as the first option again
No I had already tried that before I reset. I think a file corrupted or something. Either way i got everything on that drive back for the most part.
