Hi all
I have just bought a evga 1070sc to replace my evga 970. Upon plugging it in, only the case fans will turn on. The cpu fan, graphics card, and rear case fan that is plugged into the mobo will not turn on. Any suggestions?

My Specs:
i5-4690k
Asus Z97a mobo
EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G2, 80+ GOLD 750W PSU
Corsair Vengeance 2x8gb
1TB HDD
EVGA GTX 970 --> EVGA GTX 1070SC

Take the card completely out and reseat it. Obviously unplug it first. Check all the power supply connections in the computer when you're plugging the card back in.

Edit: If that doesn't work try another PCI-E slot.

Edit 2: If that's a modular power supply ( pretty sure it is ) check both ends of the cable.

I've done this multiple times. Re-seating it multiple times. I installed my old one and everything works perfectly so I'm not sure what to do

You have another computer you can try the new card in? If the old card works fine and you have this one plugged in correctly then it almost has to be a bad card. You could prove it by trying it in another computer.

The good news is EVGA has amazing customer support.

Looks like you have 4 x 8 (6+2) pin connectors on that unit. Try different cables as well as different ports.

Try clearing CMOS. Last idea I've got. Just be aware that you might have to re-enable stuff like fast boot and XMP and any overclocking.

Admirable
CMOS is the bios. Since we know the card works and the power cables did work with the GTX 970, I don't see why it won't start. To reset the CMOS, either remove the battery or some motherboards have a button you can press. Usually the battery removable is the easiest.

Clearing CMOS resets the BIOS to the default settings. CMOS is not the BIOS. Iamacow read this:

http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch001360.htm

Your motherboard has a jumper. The manual will tell you what to do. If you didn't keep the manual it can be found here:

https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/Z97A/HelpDesk_Manual/

You should short the jumper over removing the battery.

I'm out of ideas but I left a link to this thread in a couple of places. Hopefully someone will see it that can help.

I have not. How do I update the BIOS. What version should it be at

The only thing that occurs to me is a long-shot, some kind of grounding/shorting issue involving the card's mounting brackets. Insulate them from the edge of your motherboard with a piece of tape, either on the brackets or on the edge of the motherboard.
When you screw the brackets in, any chance it's lifting the back edge of the card partly out of the slot?

But the card works perfect fine on my brother's pc. He has nearly the same specs as I do. He has the same case as well. I believe the only difference is that he doesn't have the A skew on his asus board and he has a different psu I believe
