Hey guys so as the heading says.

i turn on the PC and it powers on but none of the peripherals do. No lights on keyboard or mouse and no display.
i have to hold down the power button to turn off, remove the battery ( which is brand new) put the battery back in then it works. until the next time i turn it off. Any ideas?

Win 7 64 bit
running on a i5 3570k,
MSI Z77A-G45 Motherboard

Novatech 750v gold psu
8gb ddr3 vengence memory
MSI Geforce GTX 1070 Gaming X

Removing the battery clears the BIOS settings. It sounds like you have an incompatible setting and that could be due to corrupted BIOS. You could try flashing a new BIOS and it might fix the problem (unless you have a damaged EEPROM in which case it might brick the computer).

This could also be due to a piece of failing hardware. With cleared settings, the hardware will pass the POST, but once settings are updated (like perhaps a higher RAM speed), it won't.

This could also be some weird power issue ... here is a test: Shut down the computer, unplug it from the wall and wait 30 seconds. plug it back in and try to start. If it does, a power issue is more likely.

Once the computer is running, do you have any crash problems?

Thanks for the Reply.
I have no issues once it is running, although it is only used mainly for streaming.
I will try this test in the morning , Im pretty sure i have already this and it didnt clear the issue.
I have had the motherboard a very long time, it is the oldest component in the PC.
I Will download a new Bios and try flashing it at some point this week.
Thanks again
Ive been putting off upgrading for a while, maybe its time to move to DDR4 & LGA 1151v2 socket

Well took me a while to update this thread but it seems there was some mosture damage to my Motherboard as it was stored in an attic for 4 months. Bit weird as has ben fine for 3 months.

decided to upgrade to an Asus z390 and an i5-9600K with 16gb DDR4 corsair Ram
