Pc won't boot or post with hdd connected to power supply

When my hard drive is disconnected I can get to bios but if I plug it in then the fan trys to cycle and then nothing. We've tried two different hard drives. My buddies external will read through the USB. But as soon as we tried the SATA hard drive it shut off we even used hot swap on.

It could be a SATA power cable or power supply issue.

I've swapped cables around and it can go to bios when it is not plugged in

Try testing different power supply, if possible.

Were sending the motherboard back to asus.
