Hi, my PC won't boot for some time and I have a quite important documents on it. I got a Windows 7 CD (I have a Windows 10 pro on the Pc) and I dit boot the PC through the Windows CD. I opened the cmd prompt but unfortunately I cannot find the computer's hard drive. When I enter the wmic logicaldisk get name command I only find the CD and the USB key I put in , in order to recover the said documents. :/ Is my hard drive broken?

Solution
It sounds like the HDD is "broken".
No need to install Linux right away.

Connect that HDD as a secondary drive, in your other PC.
Preferably with a USB-SATA dock.

See if the other PC sees it.

Hi, thanks for your answer. The USB is reconized and the CD with the Windows 7 is also reconized. But the hard drive with the Windows is not. Do I have to install Linux on my second computer in order for your solution to work? Thanks!
