Pc won't boot with new cpu

I just upgraded from a Pentium g4600 to an i5 8400. After the installation when I would try to turn on my PC everything would come on for about 1 second then turn back off. I put my old cpu back in and everything worked normally.

Specs
650w power supply
Gtx 1050ti
Mobo: MSI B250M pro-VD
8gb ddr4 ram
Cpu- i5 8400/Pentium g4600

i5 8400 is only compatible with Z370 boards.

You need a Z370 board.

8th Gen CPU's only run on Z370 at this time...Sorry.
