PC won't POST with SSD Connected

Without the SSD connected, my PC boots up and goes to BIOS. With it plugged in to the PSU and mobo, the case lights and CPU fan turns on for barely a second, then shuts off. I tried replacing the power cable and the data cable for the SSD. I even returned that first SSD and got the same model, but the PC still won't post.


I have a z170-a motherboard, the SSD is a Samsung EVO 860 500gb, and a Corsair CX500 W power supply.

Faulty power connection, I'd say. Try connecting the SATA power cable with the ssd not attached to anything, so that you can correctly insert the power cable..

I just tried that, as well as plugging in the SATA power cable into a different socket in the PSU. Both these didn't work. Plus, I should add that the PSU and mobo are used.

Not sure then about the issue. Maybe they did not replace the SSD at all? Try testing it in different pc.
