I just got a new graphics card its a asus hd 6450. im currently running on a nvidia nForce 750a SLi onboard graphics. i plug in the new card and install the drivers reboot and it still isnt working..when i look in device manager under display adapters all it says is Standard VGA Graphics adapter. not sure what else i can do to make it work

Standard VGA graphics adapter is referring ot the onboard video. I would try taking out the card and reseating it into the PCI Express slot. I would then try reinstalling the drivers. If it still doesn't fix the problem, return the card where you bought it from for a replacement. Try the new card and lets go from there.

Let me know how that goes. Feel free to private message me.

Have a great day!

Try TStahler's suggestion then check the bios for Primary Graphics Adapter as PCI-E VGA Card First.

Majority of motherboards do have the Primary Graphics Adapter set to auto so if a discrete graphics card is installed, it will default to that, but the video cable must be connected to the graphics card and not the motherboard.
