I have an IBM workstation that takes PC66 ECC memory. I am trying to find out if I can buy PC100 ECC or PC133 ECC memory and have it work in my machine. If anyone has any experience with this I would appreciate any input.

Thanks,

Nick

Any better grade (PC100, PC133) of memory should work just fine in a computer designed for PC66. I've never used ECC memory, but I don't think it really affects whether or not you can use the faster memory.

Should be backward-compatible.

Well, may not be compatible. Some motherboards are very particular, especially OEM units like HP, Compaq, Dell, etc... I would look on IBM's website to see if you can locate any information on the memory requirements for the system, or if you don't want to do that, buy a PC100 ECC stick and try it!

Or you can probably call their technical support line and find out.
