Hi, i am in the process of repairing the Pcb board for my Seagate Barracuda 2tb Hdd. I have identified the problem, it is a burnt out diode that has 'kvp 0.7am' on it. Could someone please suggest a good replacement diode and where to get it from. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the quick reply but I wasn't asking for permission. I like to tinker and have excellent soldering skills and was looking for advice as to what kind of diode to use and where to get it.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I have included 2 urls for the two images i have uploaded.

As you can see, there is a slight scorching and the diode looks bulged on the top. Relevant info from the HDD Seagate Barracuda 2tb - ST2000DL001 The diode has KVP 0.7 AM on it, all i really need to know is was strength i need to get as i plead ignorance when it comes to volts and kilovoltage, etc.

Once i know what i need to get then i can source it myself, just need someone with the technical know how and then i can do the grunt work. Cheers for your help in advance.

Solution
Quick update, I ended up getting a replacement 5v Tvs Diode (after confirming it was a 5v diode) and once replaced and soldered on I got the same result, blinking Hdd light with a little smoke. So I have ended up removing the new diode and making the contacts good and clean, and have left the gap empty.

It now works, I am currently transferring important data. It may last or it may not but completely removing the blown diode and relying on the 12v diode seems to be working.

Thanks for all the help.
