Hi I just bought a PCI 3.0 Zotac Geforce GTX 1050 ti and let me tell you that was the worse decision ever because I am so goddamn stupid that I thought a 3.0 PCI-E card would work in a x16 slot. Believe me when I say I'm retarded when it comes to computers. Basically blah blah blah I'm going to return it for a $140 newegg giftcard. Now theres two options: Keep it and find a affordable computer with a 3.0 PCI-E slot for it to fit, OR return it back for a giftcard and choose out a good x16 graphics card for it. I'll keep it in my Optiplex 330 for like a while to play like Minecraft or something while I earn enough money to buy a good prebuilt PC to insert the Graphics card into. Now Please recommend cards to me that are x16 and would fit into an Optiplex 330 (If they were x16 they would fit anyways but whatever) Also ones that wouldn't be TOO Power heavy and could probably do their part in playing better games such as Overwatch and Maybe GTA V (Forgetting about the Processor and all that) So say I had like a 3.2 GHz Intel i5 or whatever and I had a graphics card if they could both hold up a game like Overwatch that is $140. (Highest I'm going is $170 because thats what I payed for the Zotac Geforce GTX 1050 ti OC) Now I see this card may be good but I would like to hear your thoughts on it

Uh, what? PCIe version (i.e. 3.0) is independent from PCIe slot size (i.e. x16). All modern GPUs are PCIe 3.0 x16 (except maybe some low end ones which I think may be x8 and/or PCIe 2.0, but PCIe versions are forwards/backwards compatible and x8 works in a x16 slot). Assuming your motherboard has a x16 slot (pretty much every one does), then a 1050 T will work just fine. Unless your case is too narrow and you need a low profile (AKA half height) card, which has nothing to do with PCIe version or slot length.

this is the card i bought

it doesn't say 3.0x16 it just says 3.0. When I tried to fit the card in it just didn't work, didn't stick. Might of been too big.

i did lookup the manual for your computer and it does have an x16 slot and almost every computer for the past 5-10 years has had PCI-E 3.0 slot's so you should not have any issues fitting the card in the PCI-E slot

so if you couldn't get this one to fit on your board i doubt you will find another one that will

so are 3.0 and x16 basically the same thing?

no PCIE x16 is a slot hardware type 2.0/3.0 is a revision of the type of addressing the video card can perform in that slot
a video card that does 3.0 x16 can perform at slower speed at 2.0 x16 slot.

the main issue here is your Bios isn't UEFI, and I agree with previous poster probably your issue., what kind of gaming are you likely to be doing on this system, there are some older used cards that could perform to your needs.

oh can you recommend a computer I can buy that's up to date that's pretty cheep?

techically yes, 3.0 just is the version of the PCI-E port. the sizes only vary depending on what X type it is

there is X16, X8, X4, and X1

I run in my office a Duo 2 core with a DDR2 motherboard and I run a ATI 7870 on it I got on ebay for like 55$ and I can play Call of duty Black ops on it without a problem, Start Trek Online, STWOR, and many "older" games. something in that series will probably cause you no issues.

would this work with a Zotac Geforce gtx 1050 TI OC?

would it work to run good games like overwatch if i also upgrade the ram?

it doesn't fit. It's too long for the PCI-E (Bottom Part)

I'm 100% its PCI-E but do you really still want to see it?

Well, it's just that when people come on here and say their X doesn't fit in slot Y, it's almost always user error. You get people trying to shove DDR3 into DDR4 slots and whatnot. If you're 100% sure you're trying to put it in the right slot and the slot is just physically too short to accommodate the card, then no need to post the picture. It's just really weird that it wouldn't fit.

so you're sure it should fit in there?
