PCI-Express 3.0 video card on PCI-Express 2.0

Can we use PCI-Express 3.0 video card on PCI-Express 2.0?

Actually, I have HP xw6400 and I am using Quadro FX3500 as graphic card. I need to get better graphic card with DirectX 11 support. I have my eye on Radeon R7 240 or 250.

I was looking on the AMD website for its specification. It says PCI-Express 3.0. I don't know what is my current PC-Express verion. CNET website says that Quadro FX 3500's PCI Express version is x16.

PCIe 3.0 is backwards compatible with PCIe 2.0.

So, yes, you can use a 3.0 card in a 2.0 slot.
