PCI Express Vs. PCI

I recently bought a Visiontek 4870 video card, but it's a little bigger than I thought it'd be. It doesn't quite fit in my case because of a fan in the back of the case. The card does have room to be used in the PCI slot though. I've been using it in that PCI slot and it seems to be working fine, but I'm wondering if I'm utilizing it in the best way.

Basically what I'm asking is if I am losing anything by using the PCI slot rather than PCI express slot?

Thanks

Pics or it isn't happening.

So wait, you just said you where able to fit a 4870 into a PCI slot and not a PCIE slot? I thought all 4870s where PCIE.

Basically a watered down version of why PCIE is better than PCI is that its a newer interface that allows for much more bandwidth, which for graphic cards is more information for it to "talk" to the CPU.

Are you sure you did not put your card into an open ended x8 pcie slot? What is your mother board and a link to your 4870 would help sort things out.
