I have installed a VIA VT-6307 Firewire IEEE1394A PCI Card in my PC.
I am unable to install the PCI Drivers.
Using Windows XP SP2

Does WIndows detect the new hardware, and attempt a default MS version of drivers for it?

Try canceling the Windows automated search for drivers, and execute the setup likely included in the Via supplied driver packaage for the card....

What exactly is happening?

At first when it "found new hardware" it just said PCI Device. And in the Hardware lists it had the yellow asterix on PCI Device.
I went into Bios and switched Plug/Play on, and altered some permissions in the registry. (as per advice given an earlier forum post)
This time it found new hardware as VIA OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host controller. There was still problems with the device showing the yellow asterix.

Finally I powered down, removed a PCI TV Card and put the Firewire card in that slot. Started up and the Card came up OK.

Looks like it's now fixed. Thanks for help and advice.
