Hey guys, I have an Asus Maximus III (3) Formula for quite sometime now and have been upgrading it over the years. I recently bought an Asus ROG 2070 but it could not have been seated into PCIe slot 1 on the board due to a pertruding PCI slot. Does this affect performance since I have the card seated in PCIe slot 2 down the board and is it possible to rip the PCI slot out to have it seated in slot 1 without killing the Motherboard?

Solution
This makes no sense, removing the PCI slot is a poor idea at best.

The sockets and the cards are designed that a card may obscure a slot, but the slot should not stop the fitting of a card.
An alternative option would be to use a PCIe riser. You will then have to figure out how to mount your video card in your case. This will be less risky than removing a PCI slot unless you have experience doing motherboard modifications.
