I bought a PCI Wifi adapter for my pc, and it has lots of problems. I can keep my PC in the same spot and sometimes will get 25MB/s, and then other times 0.8Mb/s. The card says it can handle up to 400MB/s. ISP delivers 100MB/s.

Which Wifi adapter are you using? What are the rest of your spec? What kind of distance are you from your router?
If you're only achieving 25Mbps vs the 100Mbps provided (assuming that's actually being provided) and distance/obstructions are fairly minimal, you may simply be dealing with an older Wifi standard or frequency. Sounds like 2.4GHz frequency, where you'd need dual-band 5GHz to achieve those higher speeds provided by your ISP (I believe).

Is the problem solely with this adapter? Ie other devices on the network are pretty consistent in speed?
