PCIe 2.0 x16 VS PCIe 2.1 x16

Ok so I have been all over looking for an answer. And I am still very confused. I read that a PCIe 2.1 x16 slotted motherboard is ready for a PCIe 3.0 x16 card in the near future. But back on track my question is

Whats the diffrence between a video card bearing PCIe 2.0 x16 as opossed to one with a PCIe 2.1 x16.

Whats the advantage to having a 2.1 over a 2.0 basically is what im asking as far as the video cards go?

Let me update a little more info

So I was informed that my video cards would be PCIe 2.1 x 16

On the box they came in it says PCIe 2.0 x 16

Should I take them back and order one with a true PCIe 2.1 x 16?

2.1 does not make anything faster... 2.0 and 2.1 have the same transfer rate.

pcie 2.1 has the same speed as a pcie 2.0 and has some new features which are available in the new pcie 3.0 but are not there in pcie 2.0.
