Hi Everyone,

Noob question - 😉

I recently sold my 1080 and bought 1060 due to money problems. When I sold my 1080 I accidentally gave away my PSU PCIE 6+2 power cables (both of them). I found one old 8 pin to 6+2 power cable in one of my old system. But then I plugged that in from PSU to GPU PSU trips and doesn't start. If I unplug that cable from GPU then computer works fine again.
Are PSU PCIE cables different to one another?

Hardware -
PSU - Thermaltake 750W RGB
GPU - EVGA GTX 960 (6 pin power)

I assume you're talking about modular cables.
The end that goes into the GPU is exactly the same.
The end that goes into the PSU can differ.
Manufacturers use different pin layouts, so modular cables aren't always interchangeable.

Using the wrong cable can fry the system. I guess your cable trips the PSU protections.

You could try to buy a replacement cable for your model. Or you can get some molex to 6/8 pin adapters.

Thanks for the reply :)

What would you recommend for my PSU?
