Pc's friend not working.

So my friend has a pc and we wanted to clean it because everytime he ran a game it would freeze, we opened it , we got the cpu cooler of and then we cleaned everything.
We put everything back in , and the pc boots as usually and then shuts off , it does show the asus boot screen and then it turns off. And one of the pins that keeps the cpu cooler in place is broken.

You need a new CPU cooler. The cooler is probably too hot. Also did you replace the thermal paste? You need to do that EVERY time you remove the cooler.

That is likely your problem. If the CPU cooler is not making proper contact the CPU will overheat very quickly and the computer will shut down to save itself. Keep in mind when you remove a CPU cooler from the CPU you will need to clean off and re-apply new thermal paste.

Hey, if i do apply thermal paste on a new cpu cooler and it still doesn't work could it be the mobo? The mobo has a green led to know if it gets power and that led never shuts off when the pc it's plugged in.

It could be, but it probably is not as the cooler is broken in general.
