Hi there i recently got a Acer Swift x 14 (MN:N23Q6) and it has 16gb of ram but for some reason my memory usage has been super high recently i tried clearing out my memory cache but nothing seemed to work to get my memory usage below 80-90% while i had just basic applications open. Then i looked at task manager and saw that while Firefox was using only around 2.3gb of ram when i changed the resource values for ram to % it claimed Firefox was using around 35% of my ram. If we go by the 2.3gb number Firefox should only be using around 15% of my ram but for some reason it claims its using 35%. This seemed odd to me and i was wondering if it was related to my oddly high ram usage, any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks so much in advance.

You might want to see if your laptop is pending any BIOS updates. I'd also see if you're able to go through Startup items and disable as many app's from startup, that should reduce background resource usages(namely ram).

When idling, what sort of resource usages are you seeing?

Windows uses "superfetch" that preloads frequently used applications into memory to reduce load times. You can go into services and search for SysMain and stop the service, with a quick reboot you will see your ram usage be almost nothing.

I had to google a few weeks back for this. One of our cad computers with 64Gb of ram was using 85% of ram on a fresh turn on. Inside the cad software everything was laggy, turning off SysMain and a reboot, he went from 54GB usage to 8Gb and the cad software was nice a fluid again.
