Question Performance is lacking

Hello,
So my pc recently has been best to say under some lower performance than id expect of it.
specs as follows
Ryzen 5 2600, RTX 2060, Aorus ATX B450 Elite MBoard, Corsair Vengeance 2x8GB 2133mhz (clocked to 3200mhz) RAM, WD 7200RPM 1TB HDD, 245GB SATA SSD, 1TB USB Storage, 550W Corsair PSU.

the 1TB USB Storage i understand is a poor decision and i do run games from it, it could possibly be the issue for poor performance in some games for all i know.
i have a potential feeling that my CPU is actually to blame, is there ways i can run tests, possibly try figure out what may be causing poor performance in games?

for reference, in VALORANT i can drop sub 100fps when playing on LOW settings.
R6s - all LOW settings its possible to drop sub 100fps.
Warzone - all LOW, hard to push above 90fps
Fortnite, all LOW, 150-170fps average but commonly drops below 100 in most situations.

I have ran a benchmark on my GPU and it came back as "Performing WAY above expectations (100th percentile)"

Id like to know if anyone has some tips, maybe some things i can do to try figure out whats causing poor performance or if there's settings in BIOS/inOS that i can tweak.

Thanks in advance
Raccc

I would say try out playing games that are not on your USB storage and see how the performance is. Usually those USB storage drives are slow as heck because it's a HDD with a USB interface into the PC.

My other question is how hot does your CPU run? Does it hit a certain point and then thottle down? You can try this benchmarking video:

I would very specifically benchmark your CPU while playing a game and see if it hits up to 100%, then if it does for a long time and your performance drops then you know it's bottlenecking.

One other thing also is to make sure your ram sticks are in dual channel mode, here is a video comparison of why it's important:

I doubt that CPU has degraded, more probable cause could be "dirty"Windows. As most large games access storage often, slow disk access can cause problems with performance.

Instead of just guessing let's take a look. Go to userbenchmark.com and run the test. Link the results here.
https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/53390832 (Benchmark 21/06/22)

Notice how the benchmark says my GPU is underperforming.

i did a CPU benchmark, on CINEBENCH R23, it got 6446 Points.

I played Fortnite earlier, on the same settings as mentioned earlier in the thread, my cpu peaked at 58 degrees.

how can i benchmark my CPU whilst playing a game, software recommendations?

also im sure my RAM is dual channel, on my MBoard its in slots 2 and 4.

your gpu is fine, look where that arrow is, right in middle

but now look at your boot ssd drive, its slower then your hdd

RAM looks great! CPU is ok. GPU is ok but could probably be better. What are your temps while gaming?

You need to replace that boot drive ASAP!
im not sure why my gpu score was so mid, it performs pretty well from what i can tell.
i was watching CPU temps whilst playing fortnite earlier and it peaked at about 58c

i can test the temps in other games if that helps?

You have a lot of background stuff running that will make the numbers kind of wonky.

Try this.
Reboot.
Wait 3-4 mins.
Run UBM with the browser closed.
Post a link.

I can try this but Spotify, Discord, Medal.TV, VoiceMeeter and other miscellaneous tasks always open.
