Permanently turn off HDD

Hello, I just bought a Medion Notebook with an SSD and an HDD. As I'm going to Exchange the included 256GB SSD for a 1TB one, I will not want to use the HDD at all.

So how can I deactivate it so it doesn't run when the computer's on (if possible, I'd like it to stay inside the Computer so I don't have to store it separately)?

You can't just turn off a HDD, just disconnect it and take it out, stash it somewhere safe.

Well..you can dismount it.

Basically the same in Win 10. Disk Management, and remove the drive letter.

Or, you could do the smart thing.
Leave that drive in, and use it for backups.

OK, now you've got me confused.
Please describe what I'm missing here.

Additionally, why are you wanting to do this?
Just have the HDD set to spin down after a couple of minutes.

I simply don't want the HDD to spin, or even be registered in the System.

To clarify, I haven't started the Computer for the first time yet. as I want to know what to do before - I'll "get rid" of the HDD first Thing I do upon starting it

Device Manager
Right click on drive
Select Disable
