Hello there again community! It is Nerumph again bringing you all another wonderful issue I am hoping to get resolved soon!
I have been been really getting my hands dirty with a brand new homelab/homeserv project as of late. Despite some hiccups here and there (and if you can help with either of those hiccups, I would be forever indebted), I feel like the system is coming together fairly well.
It seems the universe is bent on proving me wrong yet again, though. I have been trying to get a VM of Pfsense onto one of my servers to allow for custom router protocols and such (most desired being snort and squid), but have been, as of late, unsuccessful in doing so. So far I have been able to install 3 VM's of Ubuntu Server with no problem through the snazzy mounting feature inside the VMWare client software.
But when it comes to my PFSense iso, it seems the instance just doesn't want to detect the mount at all.
The VM is currently set as Free BSD (64bit) for the guest OS, so that should not be an issue for mounting the iso.
Here are some things I have tried as of now to get this install to work:
* Mounted the .iso file both before powering on the machine through the hardware configuration "Edit Settings" panel AND through the "Connect CD/DVD Devices of the Virtual Machine" icon under the console.
* Used ESXI versions 8, 10, and 11 as the virtual hardware visor. All of which gave me the same errors.
* Tried downloading the 32bit version and setting it as Free BSD 32bit. It had the same error.
----------------------
Here is what my console says when the mount doesn't work:
Network Boot from Intel E1000
[Various Copyrights]
CLIENT MAC ADDR: [MAC Address] GUID: [number sequence]
PXE-E53: No boot filename recieved
PXE:-MOF: Exiting Intel PXE ROM
Network boot from Intel E1000 #2
[Various Copyrights]
CLIENT MAC ADDR: [MAC Address] GUID: [number sequence]
PXE-E53: No boot filename recieved
PXE:-MOF: Exiting Intel PXE ROM
Operating System not found
Sooo... I am at a loss here. Just what is it I am doing wrong that is not allowing the iso to be shown to the guest machine?
I am looking forward to hearing from you all soon on this!
Sincerely,
Nerumph
