"given the recent RTX 50 family reviews and the direction ‘Lackwell’"

Are you even in the same reality as the rest of Tomshardware? Your boy Jared just gave the 5070 ti 4 out of 5 stars.

To be fair the 5070ti isn't necessarily a "bad" GPU, it's actually half decent compared to the 5080 and 5070. It's just all the pricing BS, scalping, and complete lack of availability ruining it. While I'll rarely defend Tom's, when you review a product you can't review it in a light that it will always be scalped, especially when they've always returned to MSRP eventually. Scalper prices are temporary but reviews stay up for years.

But this author is trash talking something the site gave 4 out of 5 stars to.

He's doing highly sensitive government work using his own PC?

He plays games on the job while accusing federal employees of being lazy etc?

Different rules for the rich I guess.
Playing games at work and accessing government data on personal equipment? Musk has settled right in to being a bureaucrat! Government business as usual.

Some reviewers see 12GB of VRAM in this generation as being comparable to the same amount last generation not realizing the new model utilizes the RAM 30% more efficiently meaning the same amount now is a 30% boost over last generation.

I doubt he is gaming at work, every game I love to play runs just fine on a 6700XT at 4K resolution (at home). I run 2 4K 32 in monitors off of it, but I am only gaming on one in general. I work in the govt space and I have seen computers "for AI" with two 4080s and custom water loop that's IDLE 90% of the time, but it sure looks pretty just sitting there... I am not going to bash the guy with zero context which the author seems to be attempting.

And? Flakey drivers at launch, some have ROP's missing, supply is super weak i.e. another paper launch, so... yeah, hard to disagree with him as he's quite objective and unbiased in the GPU world.

What model? You mean CNN vs. Transformer? Not a lot of games support the new model yet, correct me if I'm wrong. Way too simple math to just say a new AI model with 30% better memory performance means it's like having 30% more VRAM. Raw VRAM capacity always takes the cake at the end of the day.

Maybe it's because the 4060/4070 can actually do the job he needs it to do? Doesn't seem like he is the Indiana Jones type.
Exactly, lol. This article has some strange basic premises, such as rich people automatically throwing huge sums of cash at everything they own. A lot of wealthy folks can actually be very tight on a lot of their purchases -- probably the same kind of discipline that helped them get wealthy in the first place.

Yeah, just thinking he barely spends any time playing games and therefore wouldn't justify something better than a 4060.

I use the exact same setup (screen + 4060) and I am fine with it! Modern games do not interest me the slightest
