Just curious about the extra pigtail on a vga cable… forgot if its good to use or just use another vga cable.
Current specs:
I9 10850k
Msi z490 gaming plus
32gb of gskill ram (3200 mhz)
Evga Gtx 1080 ti sc edition
Superflower leadex III 850w gold psu
Only reason im asking is because my co worker bought me an Asus rog strix rtx 3080 OC edition as a gift. And i see it uses 3x 8 pin connectors 24 total, right now my 1080 ti uses a 6 + 8 pin vga cable. But i have the 24 total for the 3080. I just wasn’t sure if the pigtail part would be safe to use…. Since its a much faster card

You can also scroll up and read. People saying to never piggyback on new cards, 3000-series Nvidia etc.
I don't ever piggyback. Even if there is a 0.01% chance of melted cables or worse, why would I want to complicate my life needlessly? It's a one-time thing to attach separate cables from PSU to all power inputs on GPU.
If your PSU doesn't have enough PCI-E power cables/connections, it's time to upgrade that PSU.
