PIN and CVV

A PIN code is used when you pay with your card in a physical shop, and a card reader is used. The code is entered on the card reader to verify that you are the owner of the card. The code is sent to you from the card company when you recive the card.

A CVV code (usually only on VISA cards) is used when shopping online and paying with the card. It is to verify that you are the owner of the card. The code is printed on the back side of the card.
