So on my new htpc running ubuntu 14.04, I installed pipelight following the instructions here: http://fds-team.de/cms/pipelight-installation.html

Then I did the sudo pipelight-plugin --enable silverlight part, but netflix, amazon prime, and every other silverlight using service still wouldn't work. I used the FDS-Team silverlight test page, and it said that silverlight wasn't working properly, even though when I did the --enable bit it said that it was enabled. Can anyone help me?

JFIY. Silverlight is no longer going to be supported by Microsoft because of HTML5. The ability embed videos and graphics and even interactive elements in HTML5 makes Silverlight obsolete. So, the Mono version of Silverlight, which was Moonlight is also obsolete. That may be why the plugins no longer work. Because Microsoft has slowed development of Silverlight, open source development for Moonlight has halted. Pipelight could be coming to the same end.
They do work for chromium, it and chrome are essentially the same thing. After talking to the pipelight devs, they told me it was because of the latest chromkum/chrome update that removed NPAPI support, so plugins like pipelight (and even silverlight) wouldn't work anymore. I got the thing working on firefox, and then I downloaded an older version of chrome since I like chrome better. Here's the bug report thread I had with them, solutions are at the bottom:
