But it was able to breathe a little bit without the glare effects and w/o multisampling. I was able to reach 10 - 16fps.

YOUCH!!! Dang jmecor, that 5200's not doing you much good there. Doesn't that make you mad @ nVidia. All this time you thought you could at least get to experience HL2 witht eh DX9 path even at poor framerates, now its so poor that you might even have to run DX8 or possibly even DX7 mode for acceptable framerates.

My OS features preemptive multitasking, a fully interactive command line, & support for 640K of RAM!

Turning off the multisampling leaps the framerate to 50-60 fps in the default loaded setup, with the 5900Ultra. Still, i would love to see a 9800Pro in action rendering this, i bet it looks so so sweet.
Someone wrote a funny post about Nvidia owners watching ATI's users dancing happy in their green green grass.. thats kinda how i feel right now!
Still, with regards to 3DSMax, i am currently getting scores of 16 in SpecViewPerf 7.1 (the max test) which is just fine with me! :) Anyone know if this has DX9 features in the benchmark???

Also, it would be awesome to have links to a few more DX9 tests like this one, so FX users can really check if their cards are up to scratch.
Anyone know any more? (ive seen aquamark but cant get it yet!)
I might just stick with this card until MSI and Asus (or was it Abit?) start making the ATi powered cards i heard of...

On my Toshiba 5200 laptop w/ P4 2.2 M, 512 ddr 266 and FX 5600 GO 64MB i get 3.2 FPS just turning the demo on. if i disable glare it jumps to 6-7 FPS, or if i disable mutlisample it jumps from 3 to 8FPS. Glare and multi off gives about 15 FPS.
just my 2 cents.
Cheers

I get 18 to 23 with everything default. That skull though is a bit much for my under clocked cpu.

Ok, the results are in.

Everything at default (although I did try changing D16 to D24X* and D24S8 w/ no noticeable impact on FPS, so I ran them at 24X8)

However I ran my R9600P Stock ~400/~300(600) and OC'd 501/348(696) [OC based on CasualCat's standard].

640X480 Stock: 25-27FPS
640X480 OC'd: 29-31FPS

1024X768 Stock: 10-12FPS
1024X768 OC'd: 12-13FPS

1280X1024 Stock: 6-7
1024X768 OC'd: 7-9

That's it. Hope it helps in some small way.

Back to running 456/318
