Hi guys,

So I have been saving up to buy an new RTX 3080 Ti/ 3080 (whichever is cheaper) & wanted to upgrade my PSU from a Gigabyte G750H to a 850w PSU as well to have enough power headroom.

I am having an Intel Core i7-8700K with MSI Z370-A Pro motherboard. PC details are mentioned below in the post.
I was having a few PSU models in mind but I wanted to consult my choices with folks in this forum who have better knowledge than me about these. Below are my PSU choices:
Note: I would have gone for Seasonic Prime 850 but unfortunately they are not available in my region.

So I have heard good reviews about the NZXT C 750/850 series, so do you guys recommend it for my system?
Or else which PSU will be better among the above choices?

System Specs
  • Intel i7-8700K at stock speeds
  • MSI Z370-A Pro motherboard
  • 32GB G-Skill (16x2) TridentZ RGB memory
  • Planning for RTX 3080 Ti/ RTX 3080 (whichever is cheaper)
  • WD Black 500GB SSD
  • 2x Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200 rpm drives.
  • Cooler Master MB500 case
  • Gigabyte G750H 80+ Gold PSU (current)

Solution
3080Ti, go for the RM1000x, 3080 RM850x.

Antec and NZXT should also be alright based on previous model reviews, but nothing definite.

Gigabyte P850GM is to be avoided due to an incredible failure rate, AP850GM might be okay. (They are new to the PSU market)

Not sure on the Deepcool

Thank you for your feedback! :)

So, if you were to choose between NZXT C850 & Corsair RM1000x series, you would choose the RM1000x?
The reason because I read somewhere that Corsair RMx series are made by CWT & NZXT are made by Seasonic & that Seasonic is much better than CWT?

Depends on the exact model, but CWT and Seasonic both make great units, they also make a few not so great ones. Depends on the customer and design spec/price point. No Seasonic that I can recall is likely to blow up on you, but there are some pretty marginal ones. CWT makes a wide range and doesn't directly market like Seasonic, but the higher end Corsair units do a pretty good job.

1000W is simply for the 3080Ti, to avoid power spikes shutting your system down. RM850x has proven marginal with the 3090 under certain workloads.

Well, unfortunately in my area RM850x is not in stock currently but RM1000x is available.
Also the NZXT C850 & Antec HCG 850 are available.
