Playing blurays with powerdvd

I recently downloaded cyberlink powerdvd 18 but am having trouble playing blurays. When I insert a disc and press play, a message briefly flashes up saying the content is corrupted. I;ve tried several discs but get the same message . I am using an external bluray drive- could there be something wrong with it?

Try this. PowerDVD has ALWAYS been plagued with problems and some versions don't have Blu ray playback. That is why, unless it comes WITH a device for free I always recommend avoiding it. You can always contact them if this is a licensed, legal version of the program and go through the time wasting process of trying to get support from them, or you can just try this. If you get similar issues using Lewoo blu ray player then either your disks ARE corrupted or something is wrong with your drive.

PowerDVD 18 Standard won't play Blu-ray. You need at least PowerDVD 18 Pro or Ultra.

An alternative product would be WinDVD Pro 12.
