The list looks good!

You would need the Pro version only if you want the virtualization features and encryption. For gaming and content creation, the home edition would do.

But i would ask you to wait till the 4080 super and decide on this. you might even have price cuts on the vanilla 4080.
I do run a home business do you think the encryption would help with personal security? I try and back up everything fairly often on a 6TB drive. And what is virtualization if I may ask? Lastly, I agree I think I will wait to see what happens with the 4080 super. Do you think the 4080 / 14900k combo will out perform the 7090X3d / 7900xtx for my use case?

Tarkov with run great with an i7 and the i7 is a solid cpu in regards to video editing.
I mean I don't mind paying a little more for my "dream" build I just don't know if I want to pay out the $4k price tag for the 4090 aswell. So I am basically trying to find the next best option for around $3,000 or maybe a touch over is fine tbh. Do you think I am just going to have a better time with a 4080 and a 14900k?
Thats assuming the 4080 super launches for 1200 USD.

Swapping the CPU and mobo for 14900k and a Z790 mobo like the MSI Z790 Pro A would bring the total to 2880 USD for the above build. And i have not included Win 11 in the list. So you decide...

Regarding getting the 4080 super at MSRP: the GPU announcement would be on Jan 9th i think. After the announcement, retailers would have the pre order links up and running. Check everyday and register yourself and hope for the best 🤞

is the 7900xtx really outperforming the 4080 here?

Wait a few weeks from now for the reviews of the 4080 Super that's due out this month. As far as a cpu I would look at the 13700K or the 14700K.

The encryption also slows down storage performance if I am not wrong. So there is a trade off. Virtualisation for running sandboxes and cloud management of other devices.

The power draw between the 14900k and 14700k is about 30w

The temps are again similar. https://www.techpowerup.com/review/intel-core-i7-14700k/24.html

Regarding performance, gpu wise both 4080 super and 7900xtx should be similar. The 7950x3d with manually configured gaming x3d gaming cores would have a slight edge.

In premier pro? Intel/nvidia like shown in puget system's testing.

I trust you based off everything you've shared so far I think your reasoning on everything checks out and I don't see any bias. What would you do if it was your decision and your money?

I just don't know if I can justify it. I kinda just feel like a 4080 is all I need for 1440p you know?
Oh I didn't say it was a good idea, and I wouldn't even buy a 4080 (current pricing) as the value of pretty much everything is suspect this generation. Waiting for the 40 series Supers is a very good idea at this point as it may push some pricing into better territory.

For sure :) I am just very excited it's hard to be patient haha.

You are not an esports gamer who wants the lowest latency possible I guess. But if you want a good and stable experience, both the 14900k and 7950x3d give that to you.

But I would go for intel nvidia as you also use premier pro. You have 2 more weeks to make up your mind XD

Reviews should be out by Jan 21 according to rumors.

Take me for example, I am waiting for the 4070ti super!
