I am looking to build a gaming PC based on 2 x Titan X (Sli) (I have my reasons for choosing this over 3x980) but have some confusion regarding the importance of some other components (e.g. motherboard, PSU, CPU). I haven't built a computer in a long time so forgive the noobiness, but I am open to any advice,
In terms of features, the only important ones required for a motherboard are SLI support (for the titans) + support for as high a degree of overclocking as possible.
Aim is to have a system that can run almost anything in high-ultra settings with 4k resolution on a single monitor
I understand that I am asking a lot, but if someone can answer even one of the questions below, I will appreciate it so much
Questions are:
(1) what is the best processor on average for gaming REGARDLESS of price (planning on overclocking as much as viable). Is 1055 or 2011 pin the way to go? I am open to anything. At the moment I have my eye on 5930k, but if for example 5960x is even a little bit better for my purpose, I am willing to spend the extra money (I care about total performance rather than performance/dollar ratio)
(2) relating to question 1, regardless of price, what motherboard is sufficient for my requirements (maximum overclocking, adequate support for 2 x titan x). Maybe x99a (going with above cpu) is the most appropriate choice?
(3) how much power will I need for the titans/this setup - is 850 enough? (case I will go with is corsair 900D)
(4) Will corsair hydro series (h110) be sufficient to cool the titans/overclocked CPU? If not what will I need for sufficient cooling.
(5) I am going to go for 16gb ram. What is fastest/best ram REGARDLESS of price for pure performance in gaming
I have the harddrives/monitor already sorted.
