Question Please Help - Harddrive issues

Hi guys,
I have both a SSD and a HDD in my PC. Recently, I was attempting to access the pictures folder in the HDD (with a few thousand family photos); the HDD folder started loading really slowly (taking about 30 seconds to load the folder). I got impatient and decided to press the hard reset button…
This is when the issues began. Instead of loading as normal, the computer would get stuck at the loading Windows (10) screen with the circle buffering.
I tried:
  • Pressing the power button 3 times in order to have windows repair come up. But, it wouldn’t come up, just stayed stuck at the loading windows screen.
  • I took out the HDD and just ran the PC on SSD, it works fine. PC doesn’t get passed the Windows loading screen with HDD plugged in.
  • Tried putting the HDD into another computer, other PC didn’t detect it.
What are my options?
Note: I don’t care if the HDD survives or not. The contents on the HDD are very important to me and I’m open to ideas on how to recover the contents.
Thank you.

If the HDD is not detected on another PC either it's probably dead.

What is full system specs including make and model of PSU? Is it a modular PSU? Have you tried another connector for SATA?

Have you checked with other SATA data and power cables?

Would it be possible to recover data? You'd have to ask professionals with the knowhow and the tools.

Would it be costly? Yes it depends on what they have to do but it can go into the realm of 3 or 4 digit numbers. If the data is worth that much to you you can contact professionals.

If it's not a case of total failure and the drive still spins up etc. any further testing or scans and even power ON/OFF cycles you do to test/check it would put extra pressure and might make recovery even by professionals harder/more expensive or even impossible.
