Currently I am on an Asus VG278HE monitor. It's 1080p 144hz refresh rate with NO g-sync and a TN panel.
I want to upgrade to an IPS G-Sync @ either 4k or 1440p.
With my current graphics settings I play games like Witcher 3 and GTA V basically maxed out, getting minimum FPS in the mid 30s and average in the high 40s. To me this is an awesome experience. I don't notice the difference in the slightest that it's not a full 60fps. That's probably because I've been a console exclusive gamer for about 7 years (not by choice). Ironically, I play mostly fast paced twitch shooters on console with my buddies and game alone on PC.
Will I really notice going to a 60hz 4k monitor, or considering the fact that I consider 40fps completely fluid a sign that I will be happy with 4k?
I should mention I just grabbed a 980Ti, and MIGHT get a 980Ti in the near future - that all depends on how well I can play Fallout 4 when it comes out. It's my favorite series ever, and I absolutely have to play it in the best possible experience.
I realize there aren't any 4k IPS G-Sync monitors YET but Asus has one releasing this year that I will wait for. If anyone can finally sway my mind into a decision I'd really appreciate it.
Thank you so much.
