Please help me make my system better!

I have a Pentium 233 MMX on a VIA VA-503+ Mainboard with 96Mb of RAM, Riva TNT2 Model 64 32Mb, SoundBlaster AWE 64 Value and a Teac CD-R55S Recorder plugged into a Tekram DC-315/U PCI SCSI Adapter. I would like to know if I can overclock my CPU to 300 Mhz or more and still have stability on my system.
I heard that a configuration like mine can be greatly improved is that true?

Probably not possible to go much above 266 with that cpu why not get a AMD k6-3+ 450 and slap it into that puppy you can get one for 64 bucks and will notice quite an improvement over the 233, also make sure you have the latest bios.
