Hi, my os- win11, gpu - Asrock AMD rx 7800xt challenger oc, Monitor- acer nitro vg271u m3
I enabled HDR in windows 11, in game and in monitor's OSD settings. this issue happening each game which supports HDR natively (not auto hdr). The issue is- during fullscreen gaming whenever i alt tab and focus to other apps instead the game window or if i run the game in windowed mode , the in game colors gets more vibrant (guessing this is actually HDR getting enabled?) but when i just run the game fullscreen the colors gets less vibrant (guessing this is actually HDR getting disabled?).
Showing a video of this, u can see when i alt tab the game goes more vibrant -

I'm providing Dxdiag result for display - and screenshot from windows settings -> system -> display -> advanced display

I like the more vribrant one quality. How do i solve this issue? my windows and gpu drivers are upto date.
i know my monitor's hdr is bad, but some games like throne and liberty, enlisted, naraka bladepoint etc looking actually awsome in HDR (when its working properly like in windowed mode) and way better than SDR . So for specific those game i want to fix this issue so that my HDR dont get washed out when i play those games in fullscreen.

okay so your monitor color profile is not correct
Display Color Space: DXGI_COLOR_SPACE_RGB_FULL_G22_NONE_P709
that is rec 709 - SDR
this is color profile from your GPU driver

for HDR10 you do need
Display Color Space: DXGI_COLOR_SPACE_RGB_FULL_G2084_NONE_P2020
that is rec 2020 - HDR10
this is color profile from mine GPU driver

your monitor shows HDR10 supported
Monitor Capabilities: HDR Supported (BT2020RGB BT2020YCC Eotf2084Supported )

it also show advanced color support is supported, but its not activated because color profile is set to SDR
Active Color Mode: DISPLAYCONFIG_ADVANCED_COLOR_MODE_SDR

color profiles are managed by windows ...

hmm open color management app (can be searched in start menu)
if you did HDR kalibration, then HDR color profile should be there right on first page under ICC profiles (advanced color), click on it and set it as default

Tyvm, i did HDR callibration and selected that new color profile but still same issue. please see my new Dxdiag- https://pastebin.com/PJxQa6Db

there's no such slider in game
just for fun downloaded that game earlier and sure there is HDR slider...every HDR game has one

ignore image quality...guess i dont have HDR capable screen capture software

but anyway, having ingame different nits value then in windows would produce difference in brightness when you alt+tab

altho that game could add luminosity slider aswell, for better HDR experience

Tyvm, sorry i thought that slider was for brightness only . MB. So how do i solve the issue currently? how do i match nits value with windows cause i dont know how to set nits value in windows.

his monitor has 250nits in hdr , its fairly possible that hs monitor wont fare any better than SDR, HDR starts to get nice from 700nits onward (mine peaks at 1500, which hurts nd just makes me blind lol)
Yeah, at that brightness, HDR just won't look good. You are really talking at least 350 nits for anything approaching real HDR and then some. HDR 400 is kind of a joke. It's barely HDR at all. Really you need to be up at 1000+ IMO for truly good HDR, with deep blacks, great brightness and contrast too.

left-click on "Display Settings". Click on "Windows HD Color settings" for advanced settings around HDR. Drag the brightness slider under HDR brightness balance" title all the way to the right (100) to improve to HDR brightness level
